Beautiful Crittall doors open the rear extension to the garden on this recent planning win in Haringey’s Crouch End conservation area. We proposed a full length Side Return Extension with three large skylights and a rear dormer loft conversion with bi-fold Juliet balcony to add an additional 35SQM of space to this elegant Victorian property.
We hosted VMZinc for a CPD yesterday. Jonathan Roome talked us through the history of the company and showed us the different treatments and installation processes available for residential and commercial clients.
Exposed brick and hanging plants are just some of the options our clients selected when running through our plethora of interior design options. You can, of course, choose the exact colouring, size and texture of each brick along with the size, depth and colour of each mortar joint. Our Interior Design service covers all the details of your space.
You may have seen some of our new Build Team branded signs as you're walking/cycling/driving around London. The signs sit on a hording, providing a strong and neat place for builder’s rubble and waste to be temporarily stored on site. One of the ways we are improving the image of the building site.
In June Build Team celebrated the start of the summer with a party. Both the Design and Build departments got together for a roundup of the first half of the year before moving to Leicester Square for lovely dinner while we were entertained by an incredible magician.
We just gained planning permission for an ambitious multi-storey extension in East Dulwich. With careful dialogue between Build Team and the case officer and a sensitive approach our clients are now able to realise their desired extension.
Check out our most recent gallery addition. The neatly packed extension had beautiful tall openings and a warming interior.
Last week we showcased a smart Ground Floor Extension and compact Loft Extension in South London.
Our South London House Tour in Peckham was a huge success with 25 of out existing and future clients were delighted at the detailed attention to design and the quality of the build with its bespoke features. We look back over the last 12 months at our accomplishments and reflect on the good work both Build Team and Design Team have produced. We have celebrated the end to a fantastic year with some very exciting projects passing through our doors and loved tackling every single one.
We have recently completed yet another build project near Parsons Green in SW6. Our clients are delighted to have their ground floor extension completed in time for Christmas and have wasted no time festively decorating the space. Take a look through the image gallery here to see how the family have brought a touch of Christmas into their home.
Our Project Gallery now features 62 of our most loved projects.
We have recently completed another ground floor project in N4, Harringay and we’re all mesmerised. This gorgeous side infill extension provides an additional 14SQM to host an open plan kitchen and dining space with a small snug towards the rear. We love the layout of this space which includes a WC and utility room, kept hidden behind a pocket door.
The all glass roof and large bi-folding doors brighten up this white interior, contrasting against the darker toned kitchen units.

Our eighth episode of The Magic behind the Build features the complete extension, fully decorated with a gorgeous interior décor and great attention to finishing touches.
David walks us through this finished extension which is nothing short of perfection. He shows us all of the unique design features of this home; from the wall bench, hidden storage, utility and WC to the gorgeous Crittal style doors.
Images of this stunning light filled wraparound extension can be seen in our gallery by clicking here.
Watch the final Part 8 of our video series to see this beautiful extension in its full glory, perfect for a growing family. We hope you have all enjoyed understanding the construction of a ground floor extension, allowing you to see how a home can be completely transformed.
“We were able to create a beautiful yet contemporary extension housing an open plan kitchen and dining space with enough room for a second living area.
The original layout of the property involved several level changes and awkward walls making movement around the spaces uncomfortable. By removing these wall and extending to the rear, the extension will be very comfortable to move through. Tucking a utility space and WC in the centre of the property has left plenty of naturally, well-lit space for living. Three architectural skylights arranged with slight offsets help flood the space with light.“
It’s no surprise to us that, Peckham was recently voted as the best place to live in London by the Sunday times. Furthermore, it has been listed as one of the coolest neighbourhoods in the world by Time Out, securing its place as the 11th coolest place.
Over the years, Peckham has transformed itself into a cultural hotspot which has made it such a desirable place to live. It is a place where families can grow and thrive, as our clients in SE15 will all agree. We have designed and completed hundreds projects in Peckham and the borough of Southwark, one of our most recent completions being on Anstey Road, SE15.
If you live in Peckham and want to see how we can transform your home or wish to see some of the projects we have completed near you, give us a call and we would be more than happy to help.
Our Design Team recently obtained planning permission for this six meter rear extension, located in the heart of the London Borough of Merton. We experimented with various design options; the final proposal being an apex roof with large skylights to catapult natural daylight into the extension and rear rooms.
We were focused on enhancing the character of the property whilst still being sympathetic to the host building. These details included a timber cladded rear elevation with brick walls on the side walls to match the existing property. There are also large bi-folding doors that create a smooth transition into the garden. The extension has now given the client additional space for their family to grow and will become the hub of the family home.
Need some advice on how to plan your en-suite? Millie Gardiner one of our Architectural Designers talks you through the best course of action. She suggests that you begin by assessing the dimensions of the room or space you have, then looks at some common space saving solutions such as corner cabinets and walk in showers.

Our Design Team recently obtained planning permission for this large Wraparound extension in Wandsworth. Our client wanted to convert their single bedroom, ground floor flat into a two bedroom property with a large open plan kitchen, dining and living area to the rear. We proposed a wraparound extension with a courtyard, bi-folding doors and a combination of flat roof skylights and Velux windows. The planning process was smooth and our client is so excited to finally get started on the build.
Real Homes really do love our Lewisham Park Loft project. They have now featured it for the second time this year, and we couldn’t be more proud to have such a gorgeous project shown off once again. This beautiful Victorian home had a ground floor extension and loft conversion built to maximise the property’s potential. Presented in ‘The Ultimate Guide to Loft Conversions’, this article demonstrates how extending your home upwards in this way can add significant space as well as value to your property.

IQ Glass have been going for over 30 years and are the UK’s leaders in architectural glazing and contemporary windows and doors. They came to our Head Office earlier this week, to present a CPD on technical glass.
Our Architectural Design Team and Project Management Team were delighted to welcome Andrew, who talked us through some of the more technical areas of architectural glass and how we can successfully integrate architectural glazing into our designs.
The team are very much looking forward to incorporating these new ideas into our Design Service.
After the success of our SE5 House Tour last month, we’re not surprised that places are booking up incredibly fast for our second House Tour here on Saturday 19th May.
We added both a ground floor extension and a loft conversion to this family home in Camberwell, SE5. The ground floor was a side infill extension, and has some wonderful features including bi-fold doors and Velux windows. The loft adds an impressive 30SQM to the property and allows for a spacious bedroom, as well as an en-suite. For pictures of this project, check out our loft gallery and ground floor extension gallery.
Our Design Team recently obtained planning permission for this whopper of an extension in NW2. Our client wanted a large loft and ground floor extension approved so they could have a master bedroom with an en-suit and Juliet balcony. The ground floor will now contain a large utility room, kitchen, dining and play area. The light penetration into the property will be much more significant, allowing our clients to enjoy a surplus amount of natural daylight into both the ground floor extension and loft space.
We have recently been instructed on our third project on Thorpedale Road, N4 and our Design Team cannot wait to get started on creating the designs. The Design Phase for our first project on Thorpedale Road was started last year and the Build is due to be completed in the next couple of months. Four impressive architectural skylights have just been installed so that once the extension is finished, natural daylight will flood the soon to be open plan kitchen and snug area. Our latest clients on this road have both opted for side return extensions and a mixture of exciting design options such as an all-glass roof, Crittal doors, and inflected skylights. One of these proposals includes a unique and bespoke box skylight above the new entrance to let light into the kitchen and reception room.
Our Architectural Design Team were thrilled to welcome Helen Mead from Holloways of Ludlow last week to our Head Office, where she came to speak with the team about lighting design and final finishes. Holloways of Ludlow manage a lighting, bathroom and kitchen showroom with a new store of homewares opening up in Wimbledon Village. Our team are super excited to incorporate the design strategies Helen gave into our Interior Design Service, so that we can continue to excel in providing our clients with stunning, fit-outs and finishes.

Our Design Team had a fantastic morning this Wednesday when they stepped into the festive spirit by taking part in their very own Design Team Quiz and Best Christmas Hat Competition. Declan, our Graphic Designer came 1st in the quiz, winning a fabulous trophy and assortment of fun gifts, whilst Stephen, one of our Architectural Designers won the best Christmas hat competition with his incredible (and edible) homemade, twinkling, candy cane crown.
One of our Architectural Designers, Marcus was snapped at the Emporta Interior Design Conference.

We had a fabulous time in Highbury last Saturday at our N5 House Tour.
This was a showstopper of a tour with over one hundred and twenty of our current and prospective clients attending. Both members of our Design Team and Build Team were thrilled to spend the day speaking with our guests about their projects. Our clients were very impressed with the amount of light that flooded the extension and the stunning polished concrete floor.
Our next tour will take place in the New Year in SE5 on Saturday 10th February, so register your interest here today!
Our client in SW2 has an end of terrace property with a butterfly roof. They wanted to add an additional bedroom, cinema room and ground floor extension. We achieved this by getting planning approval for a Mansard shaped roof, first floor extension and a wraparound ground floor extension. The client has opted for large Velux’s and bi-folding doors on the rear to let a surplus amount of light into the new extension.
We recently gained planning permission for a Loft Conversion in just three short days! Our Design Team are both astonished yet thrilled for our client in Haringey, who will be building a very unique loft design, way ahead of schedule.
Our designer and client agreed to opt for a design that would meet the Permitted Development guidance, thus reducing the planning application timeframe. Although there is no guarantee any application will be processed quickly, we were able to obtain a positive decision within 3 days of the validation.
The final proposal includes a spacious bedroom with an en- suite that takes full advantage of the depth of the property. The Velux windows at the front and a large open glazing at the rear make for a wonderfully light and open feeling. Three large windows on the rear facade offer near-frameless views onto the greenery beyond and draw natural light into the bedroom and down into the hall.
We have just completed this gorgeous landscape design for a client in Southwark.
The client wanted a romantic garden with cottage style boarders, as well as a lowered seating area. After seeing some initial mood boards, our client decided that a pond would be a lovely addition. With the pond placed towards the rear of the garden and the shed disguised through a cleverly choreographed layout of tall plants such as hollyhock, sweet pea and honey suckle, this garden has a magical, mystical feeling. Interesting design features include a delightful stepping stone path, hidden pockets and a deep seated area that looks up at the house, creating the perfect sun trap.
We had a lovely day in Muswell Hill with over fifty five of our current and prospective clients.
This was our second House Tour at this stunning build in N10 and it was fantastic success. We had both members of Design Team and Build Team present to talk with our guests about their projects, with many of our clients bringing their lovely little ones who all enjoyed the colourful cupcakes! Everyone appreciated seeing this ground floor extension which boasts high ceilings (3.4m to be exact), large Bi-fold doors, Velux windows and a fabulous utility area and ground floor WC.

The homeowner wanted to add an ambitions loft extension to their detached house located in the London Borough of Bromley. The loft will provide space for an additional master bedroom with an en-suite and a study at mezzanine level. The final design takes full advantage of the wonderful views, providing the perfect place to watch the sunrise and set against a serene golf course in the distance. The shape of the extension and position of the skylights have been strategically placed, so that the new habitable space in the loft always has access to natural day light all year-round.
We started this kitchen design in Datchet earlier this month, and our client got a great taste of what their kitchen may look like. With the subtle coloured kitchen units and Spanish tiled splashback detailed in the drawings, all of the small details helped. These 3D projections gave our clients the chance to begin visualizing their dream kitchen, and we’re looking forward to developing the design and getting to a finished result.
Build It Magazine have featured one of our stunning projects in their September issue.
The homeowner of this bright and modern extension in Lewisham Park really has utilised the additional space. They built an L-shaped kitchen, loft and completely renovated the whole property, transforming this 2 bed Victorian terrace into a magnificent three bed home with a beautiful garden and three bathrooms. In the dining space, three Velux windows flood the area with natural light and the bi-fold doors allow the homeowners to open the room up on sunny days. Three striking pendant lights hang over the dining area, creating a warm ambience in the evenings.

Our Stoke Newington project certainly has that wow-factor and it dazzled in the May edition of Good Homes! We carried out both the Design & Build Phase for this project in 2016, and the finished product is absolutely stunning.
The homeowner chose some fantastic features such as wide Bi-Fold doors combined with an all-glass roof, which floods the room with natural light. We opened up the entire ground floor, removing the wall that traditionally separates the living and kitchen area, creating a relaxing, airy and sociable space. The colourful kitchen tiles further compliment the overall look of the project.

Our Design Team have had another great planning win this week.
To satisfy the guidelines from Merton Council, we set the proposed area back slightly from the existing rear of the property. It was important to both the client and the council that this extension was in keeping with the local area and was designed so that it would match the existing elements of the property. Our client is delighted with the results and is excited to get started on the next phase of the project.
Ideal Homes has featured one of our fantastic projects, which is located just a stone's throw from our Head Office in Clapham. This finished build is quite the show stopper, and the combination of the bi-fold doors and stunning internal tiles make quite the statement!
Our clients opted for a gorgeous internal window to allow light to penetrate into that rear room.
Our Design Team goes to great lengths to find that perfect design, which suits our client’s specifications and style. There is nothing more exciting than seeing that Design becoming a reality – which is happening just here on this gorgeous build in SE5.
Our client gained an impressive 58 SQM and the carefully thought out design has completely transformed the property. The kitchen is now flooded with natural light, with 3 generous sized Velux windows and an Inflected Roof Light.
Real Homes has featured one of our stunning builds in Stroud Green, North London. This ground floor flat makes clever use of the space available, and even manages to incorporate a court yard within the extension which allows natural light to penetrate every single room of the property.

Conversation Areas can be tricky, but if you have an experianced team behind you, you'll have no trouble getting past your local council. The contemporary look, intergrated with the traditional features makes for a stunning finish.
Our Project in Stockwell, SW8 has been featured as a full 2-page feature in the September issue of Good Homes Magazine.
The homeowners wanted to increase the kitchen area to accomodate their growing family, and the finished build does just that; the finished room spans an impressive 39 SQM. The work included excavation to the sub floor to improve the ceiling height, and we fitted bi-fold doors and roof lights to maximise the natural light.
Our Build in Streatham, SW2 has been featured in the property section of the Metro.
Our sister company, Build Team, completed the Build in 2014. Our Design Team had to adhere to strict design restrictions because the property is in the Telford Conservation Area. We chose to go for a minimalistic approach to the exterior design and include tradtitional features to keep the design in keeping with the neighbouring properties.
One of the builds completed by our sister company, Build Team, in Islington, N19 has been featured in the May 2015 issue of Real Home magazine's kitchen supplement, Kitchen+
In order to maximise the amount of natural light entering the new space the scheme included bi-fold doors, three large rooflights and a Velux sun tunnel.
